Welcome to my virtual showroom...
My name is Karina Johansen. I was born in Arizona, but moved to Buenos Aires with my family at the age of ten, and quickly became a "porteñita". In my 20s I moved back to the U.S., where I studied and worked mainly in the area of international business. I then decided to return to my mother's birthplace to live and raise my two kids.
After day dreaming with an independent project for many years, my interest in native textile art drove me to first open Kenko, which quickly became Khana - Native Weavings. Khana reflects this will, and through an online catalogue I exhibit the fine native weavings I have selected during my various trips around Argentina. I invite you to discover and enter this fascinating textile tour around Argentina at www.khana.com.ar
khana, which in Aymara means man or woman of light, exists thanks to the valuable support of my family and friends, and all those who cooperated (and still do!) in making this dream possible. THANK YOU! Karina
